NHRA Mile-High Nationals - Denver, CO

The NHRA Mile-High Nationals marks the first of three back-to-back races for the tour known as the Western Swing. This year the event was extra special as it was also the final running of the Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.  Chase and family hadn't been back to the track since his junior dragster days nearly 10 years prior but were super excited to return to the scenic venue.  The altitude always presents challenges for tuners in Denver but crew chief Tim Kulungian reached deep into his bag of tricks to allow Chase a stellar 7.121 @ 188.52 mph, good for the #2 qualifier spot which was our best of the season so far!

Sunday eliminations paired Chase with Lance Bonham first round where a solid 7.13 @ 187 mph got the victory.  In the second round the benefit of qualifying #2 paid off big time as we got a single run due to a short field of competitors.  The semi-finals matched Chase with Gaige Herrera which is where our day came to an end.  Chase's great .013 reaction time was not enough advantage to overcome Gaige's 7.10 to our 7.16 e.t.  The good news was that making it to the semi's qualifies us for our second Mission Foods Challenge to be contested at the next race in Seattle.
